Why it was needed
Generic chatbots forget the child, drift off-curriculum and cannot be trusted with children's data. Parents wanted tutoring that is personal, accurate and fully under their control.
What we built
We built a tutoring platform on Claude where each subject has its own tutor persona, and everything it knows about a child lives in plain markdown files the parent can read and edit. Nothing is hosted externally.
Key features
Specialist tutors
Separate personas for maths, English, writing and reasoning, each grounded in UK curriculum notes for the child's year group.
Memory you can read
Profiles, progress, mistakes and a summary of every lesson are stored as markdown files, so parents can see and correct what the tutor knows.
Exact diagrams
The model supplies numbers and the app draws the picture, so a 60 degree angle can never come out as 70. Includes fractions, number lines, clocks, charts and aligned column arithmetic.
Checked online tests
Weekly tests are written from the learning plan, then solved blind by a second independent call. Any question the check disagrees with is excluded before a child sees it.
Parent dashboard
Progress, lesson summaries, scores over time and wellbeing notes in one place, behind a PIN.
Private by design
Runs on the local network only, with optional voice replies and a monthly usage cap to control cost.
